Blueberries
Blueberry production in South Africa has grown rapidly in recent years, driven by the country’s favourable climate and increasing global demand.
The Western Cape, Limpopo and Mpumalanga regions provide ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality blueberries, with long sunny days and cool nights that contribute to the fruit's excellent flavour and size. South Africa’s blueberry harvest season runs from May to November, aligning well with the off-season in Northern Hemisphere markets. This has positioned South Africa as a key exporter to Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, and Asia. With advanced farming techniques and a focus on sustainability, South Africa continues to increase its production capacity, delivering fresh, premium blueberries to global markets.
